Information About The Student Discount

You can only use the student discount at 4 skate shops, namely Inlinex, Mystic Skates, Hvper Sport / HiRoller and Ernsports. Inlinex provides a 15% discount on all non-discounted skates as long as you show them your matriculation card for verification. Mystic Skates provides a 10% discount for every item in their catalogue. This discount is open to all tertiary students in Singapore with a valid matriculation card, a picture of which should be uploaded when filling in their purchase form. Do note that the Mystic Skates catalogue shows the original prices before the student discount is applied. As for Hvper Sport / HiRoller and Ernsports, head down to the shop and show your matriculation card for a discount.

For the exact details on claiming the student discount, especially for Hvper Sport / HiRoller and Ernsports, you should check with your club's president. It is highly likely that you will have to inform your club's president about your intention to purchase skates from Hvper Sport / HiRoller and Ernsports.

Before heading down to the shops to buy your skates, do call them to check if they have the skates in your size. For Inlinex, you can check the stock on their website before heading down.

Here are the details of the 4 places:

Hvper Sport Downtown East / HiRoller

Hours: Open from 12pm - 7pm (SGT) on weekdays, and from 12pm - 8pm (SGT) on weekends and public holidays
Description: At Hvper Sport, you can use the student discount and save about 30% - 35% on some skates. The selection here, however, is quite limited and there really isn't much to choose from. Most of the skates sold here are Seba and the other brands like NEXUS (Hvper Sport's proprietary brand) and Freestyle don't have many reviews. Despite this, they are the sole retailer of Takino skates in Singapore, but it is also not a brand that gets a lot of mentions in the inline skating community either as Takino specialises in speed skates. Hvper Sport also doesn't carry aggressive skates or figure-inline skates.

Ernsports

Hours: Open from 12pm - 8pm (SGT) on weekdays, and from 11am - 8pm (SGT) on weekends
Description: Similar to Hvper Sports, you can use the student discount here and save about 30% - 35% on some skates. Ernsports also has a very limited selection of skates and only sells Seba and Freestyle skates, which is an even more limited selection than Hvper Sports. They only sell urban and recreational skates here and do not stock other kinds of skates, like aggressive skates, speed skates or roller skates. Needless to say, they don't stock figure-inline skates either. Interestingly, they have a Lazada online shop in addition to their online shop.

Inlinex

Hours: Open from 12pm - 8pm (SGT) on weekdays, and from 11am - 7pm (SGT) on weekends. Closed on public holidays.
Phone: +65 8123 3425 (sales support) & +65 9464 2702 (after sales and technical support)
Description: Inlinex probably has the largest selection of skates out of any inline skate shop in Singapore. They stock all kinds of skates, except for figure-inline skates. It seems like Inlinex is the only place in Singapore to get aggressive skates as well. Furthermore, you can use the student discount here, which is 15% off all non-discounted items. It isn't as high as the other shops that offer a student discount, but it applies to most, if not all of their skates, rather than having to stick to a catalogue. You should definitely buy your skates from here due to the incredible selection. Do note that they only accept NETS, cash and PayNow.

Mystic Skates

Description: Mystic Skates is first and foremost a Singapore-based inline skating school, so it does not have a physical storefront or even a website. To purchase items from them, you will have to fill in a form and place a minimum deposit of $60 if your purchase is more than $60, and the full amount if your purchase amount is less than $60. You must also measure your feet and provide your running shoe's EU size if you purchase skates. They also offer a 10% discount for university students, which is claimed by uploading a picture of your matriculation card to the form. Their selection is quite decent, having more variety than most skate shops in Singapore, but nowhere near Inlinex's selection. They also sell higher quality and more expensive skates like those made of carbon fibre for lower prices than most skate shops, especially with the 10% student discount. You can peruse their catalogue here. The prices in the catalogue are retail prices, not discounted prices. They also have a Carousell store, but it only sells a few accessories and a pair of cheap skates. If you are interested in what they are up to, you can check out their Instagram and Facebook.
